SER California is a community-based non-profit organization. The agency provides affordable housing, and educational, employment and training services throughout California. The agency’s mission is to provide individuals the opportunity to become self-sustaining, obtain quality education, employment and training opportunities, childcare, affordable housing, and other services that may benefit the community as a whole.

About Us

Who We Are

SER-Jobs for Progress, Inc. (SER) is a 501 (C)(3) incorporated in California in 1973 as a community-based non-profit. The agency provides affordable housing, education and social services throughout California and maintains a corporate office in Fresno, California.

During the past forty-nine years SER has provided services to residents in over 100 cities in 23 counties throughout California. SER has developed a variety of programs to address the needs in these diverse communities.

Programs & Services You Can Be Part Of

High School Equivalency Program

This program is designed to prepare farm workers to pass the General Education Development tests. SER has been operating the HEP programs since 1999 and has graduated over 2,200 farm workers since then. This highly successful program operates in over seventeen communities in the counties of Fresno, Madera, Santa Barbara, and Imperial.

Senior Community Service Employment Program

SER operates SCSEP in eighteen counties providing services to the senior population over the age of 55. SCSEP is a community service and work-based job training program for older Americans. Authorized by the Older Americans Act, the program provides training for low-income, unemployed seniors.

 

Community Center for the Arts and Technology

CCAT is a grassroots community based-center. It’s the only one of its kind in the valley offering FREE classes for children, youth, and adults in Digital Media & the Performing Arts. Please come and visit our facility and you will be amazed of the efforts made by community individuals. Classes offered at CCAT.

National Farmworker Jobs Program

SER NFJP focuses on assisting migrant/seasonal farmworkers and their families to achieve greater economic stability. To qualify you have to show proof of field work in the past 2 years and are low income.

Parent Advocacy for Special Education

PASE is a SER sponsored program that helps educate parents of students with disabilities (SWD’s) on how to obtain advocacy and support for their children, if they find that their children are not receiving the resources and attention that they require, and provide that advocacy for these families.

Las Casitas were built in 1986 to the need for affordable housing for retired farm workers, disabled and low-income seniors.

The “very low income” rental apartments allow residents the opportunity to save money for the purchase of their own homes.
